Role Overview:

upGrad is looking to hire a high-impact Business Leader to spearhead a strategic initiative focused on building and scaling a large consumer internet business within the higher education admissions and discovery ecosystem.


This role will own the vision, growth, monetization, and overall business strategy for a platform focused on helping learners discover and enroll into online and hybrid higher education programs, leveraging upGrad’s strong university partnerships and extensive program portfolio.


This is a business-building role with significant ownership and is ideal for someone who thrives in high-growth environments and wants the opportunity to build a category-defining business from the ground up.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end business ownership including growth, revenue, funnel metrics, and monetization.
  • Build and scale a consumer internet-led business with a strong focus on acquisition, engagement, and conversion.
  • Develop and optimize growth funnels across lead generation, user journeys, and conversion touchpoints.
  • Identify scalable growth levers across performance marketing, partnerships, SEO, organic growth, and product-led initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Growth, Sales, Partnerships, Marketing, and Operations teams to drive business outcomes.
  • Define GTM strategy, operating cadence, and business expansion plans.
  • Use analytics and consumer insights to improve funnel efficiency, user experience, and revenue performance.
  • Build scalable systems, processes, and teams to support long-term growth.


What We’re Looking For

  • 8–15 years of experience in consumer internet, marketplace, growth, or digital business roles
  • Strong business acumen with an ownership-first mindset
  • Proven track record of building or scaling a business vertical, category, or growth engine
  • Deep understanding of acquisition funnels, conversion optimization, monetization, and lead-generation businesses
  • Strong analytical thinking combined with execution excellence
  • Experience owning key growth and revenue metrics at scale
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional environments


Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is likely someone currently working at a Director / AVP / GM level, who is one step below CXO leadership and is looking for an opportunity to take larger ownership and build a business from scratch.

We are specifically looking for candidates with strong consumer internet and growth business experience. This is not a traditional admissions, sales, or brand marketing role.
