Summary

The Limited Service Technician collects, receives and processes a variety of laboratory specimens while properly assessing work priorities.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes a variety of laboratory specimens while properly assessing work priorities.
• Communicates with the hospital staff regarding specimen requirements, ordering, and miscellaneous requests.
• Performs a limited number of basic laboratory tests.
• Follows hospital policies and procedures.
• Identifies patient. Collects, labels, and delivers biological specimens. Age Specific, developmentally appropriate approach to patients
• Monitors quality control and recognizes need for corrective action.
• Performs tasks efficiently. Maintains work area to include necessary maintenance.
• Other duties as required.

Other Information

Technical Expertise

• Experience in a laboratory setting is /preferred.
• Experience as a medical laboratory scientist major/medical laboratory intern of Akron Cooperative Medical Laboratory Science Program is preferred.
• Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Ability to interact effectively with computers and keyboards is required.

Education and Experience

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference will be given to students pursuing education for a career in Medical Laboratory Science.
• Certification: None.
• Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred.
• Years of experience supervising: None.
