- Full Time - Scheduled for 40 Weekly Hours
- Shift/Schedule - Days/Afternoons (6a-2:30p)
Essential Job Functions:
- Sets up and troubleshoots anesthesia machines, monitors, ancillary equipment, and supplies.
- Responsible to set-up and assist with all equipment and supplies for anesthesia cases performed in the preoperative holding area (Line Room), Intraoperatively, Endoscopy, CVL, X-ray, Interventional Radiology, Angiography, and other assigned areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of all work areas while utilizing aseptic technique for routine cleaning and disinfecting of reusable equipment and supplies in assigned areas.
- Maintains supply stock in rooms, anesthesia workstations, Pyxis, Omnicell, operating rooms, Malignant Hyperthermia cart, and other carts or areas as needed in a rotational fashion, while checking for outdated supplies.
- Assists with inventory, ordering, and maintaining department supply stock consistent with departmental demands in collaboration with Supply Chain designee.
- Reports anesthesia equipment in need of repair to supervisor, Biomed and/or Maintenance department as appropriate. Assists in planning for repairs, replacements, and securing temporary replacement equipment as necessary.
- Assists in preparation, positioning, and draping of the patient for invasive monitoring procedures, including nerve blocks. Aids in preparation of patients for major invasive monitoring and/or difficult cases in the Pre-op Holding area, surgical suites, and other areas as directed by Anesthesia provider, including but not limited to BP cuff, ECG leads, and Pulse Oximeter placement.
- Performs under extreme pressure of life-threatening emergencies. Demonstrates speed and timeliness in all duties, particularly in preparation for emergencies and trauma procedures. Remains calm, competent, and able to follow instructions under pressure.
- Anticipates the need for invasive monitoring, supplies, and equipment comparing to daily OR schedule and prepares accordingly.
- Develops tracking log / records for all anesthesia equipment. Responsible for keeping all logs current and in compliance with state and Joint Commission requirements. Reconciles, retrieves, cleans, and disinfects equipment and instrumentation from inpatient units daily.

- BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)
- Medical Terminology (preferred)
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- 2-year associate’s degree (preferred)
- Combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
- 2 years’ experience as a perioperative assistant, anesthesia clinical assistant or equivalent (required)
