Financial Clearance / Insurance Verification Specialist

Location: Southwoods Executive Centre | Boardman, Ohio

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

About the Role:

Southwoods Health is seeking a Financial Clearance Specialist to join our team. You will be responsible for accurately verifying patient insurance, confirming benefits, securing authorizations, and calculating patient financial responsibility to ensure a seamless billing process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verification: Confirm insurance coverage, workers’ compensation, and state programs for all scheduled procedures.
• Authorizations: Secure and document precertification numbers and authorizations before the date of service.
• Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and regulatory guidelines.
• Patient Education: Clearly communicate benefit details, in/out-of-network status, and out-of-pocket estimates to patients.
• Coordination: Update supervisors if authorizations are not secured within 72 hours of a procedure.
• Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date on changing insurance requirements for medical necessity and prior authorization.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous insurance verification experience is required.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of revenue cycle operations and financial clearance services.
• Skills: Exceptional time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Professionalism: High ethical standards and a professional demeanor at all times.
