We are partnering with a growing manufacturing company seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations. This role will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, inventory controls, and compliance activities while partnering closely with operations leadership to drive profitability and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience, including standard costing, inventory management, and ERP systems, along with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including:
  • General ledger
  • Accounts payable/receivable
  • Payroll
  • Month-end and year-end close
  • Financial reporting
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Manage manufacturing cost accounting functions including:
  • Standard costing
  • Variance analysis
  • Inventory valuation
  • Labor and overhead allocation
  • Analyze manufacturing performance, margins, and operational KPIs to support business decisions
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
  • Partner with plant operations and leadership teams to improve efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
  • Monitor inventory controls and collaborate with operations on cycle counts and physical inventories
  • Support ERP system enhancements, implementations, and reporting optimization
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of accounting leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Cost accounting
  • Inventory accounting
  • GAAP
  • Financial analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams

Preferred Experience

  • Multi-site manufacturing experience
  • Experience with lean manufacturing environments
  • ERP implementation or optimization experience
  • Private equity-backed company experience a plus
