About The Role
The Assistant Estimator supports the estimating team by helping prepare accurate bids, coordinating project information, reviewing drawings and specifications, and maintaining clear communication with internal and external partners. This role also helps ensure complete bid documentation and a smooth hand-off to the operations team.
What You’ll Do
- Support the estimating team in preparing accurate and timely bids.
- Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to help define project scope and requirements.
- Solicit vendor and subcontractor pricing and organize quote comparisons.
- Prepare takeoffs, material lists, and bid documents under the guidance of the lead estimator.
- Coordinate project information, clarifications, and addenda with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Help assemble written proposals and maintain complete bid records and job files.
- Assist with project handoff by organizing awarded job information for operations, accounting, and project teams.
- Follow established estimating, administrative, and safety procedures throughout the bid process.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Comfort reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Basic math skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Willingness to learn estimating processes, systems, and construction industry terminology.
