Role Description

This is a full-time PR Account Manager role at Barking Owl Communications, offering an opportunity to contribute and learn in a boutique agency, developing your future career in a supportive environment.

This hybrid role (one day WFH) is located in our creative office space in Glebe, NSW.

As our new Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing a range of exciting client programs for our travel and tourism clients, where you will work with an Account Director and client services team to develop and deliver communication strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to drive client program ideation and activation that meets a client’s objectives
  • Develop and execute hard working media relations programs for clients including ideation/drafting media releases, creating on-target story angles, media pitching, management of media interviews, Q&A development and briefings
  • Cultivate relationships with key media, industry and brand partners in the travel and tourism and lifestyle sectors
  • Assist with organising creative and memorable events, activations and collaborations
  • End-to-end management of familiarisation programs including identifying media/influencers and supporting with all logistics management.
  • Have a level of familiarity with all social media platforms and identify relevant influencers/key opinion leaders
  • Support program management – day-to-day client liaison, attending and tracking client WIP meetings, monitor and track client coverage/outcomes and all program activities; maintain excellent program tracking documents, writing end of month reports, assisting with program development


Qualifications/approach

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the PR/communications field ideally in the tourism or lifestyle sectors
  • You have proven account management experience, including client liaison and broader direction of accounts with a good proficiency in Public Relations tactics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail is essential
  • Confidence in liaising with clients, account management and problem solving
  • You can work independently but also contribute positively to a small team, work environment
  • You enjoy working and supporting a team and managing people while remaining hands-on. And of course, you're open to learning and being mentored and challenged from a supportive senior leadership team.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field would be favourable but is not essential – we are more interested in your hands on experience and “can do” attitude
  • A sense of humour, commitment to step out of your comfort zone and strong work ethic will ensure the successful candidate makes a real impact in a fast-growing agency
