Job Overview

Business Risk Partners is seeking a Sr. MISC Professional Liability Underwriter to support and expand our Specialty Lines portfolio. This role is ideal for a seasoned underwriting professional with deep expertise in professional liability, authority to manage complex and non-standard risks, and the ability to contribute to underwriting strategy, mentorship, and portfolio growth. The Senior Underwriter will play a key role in driving underwriting excellence, profitability, and broker relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Miscellaneous Professional Liability accounts within delegated underwriting authority and risk appetite.
• Provide technical leadership on complicated or high-hazard risks, including coverage structure, pricing strategy, and terms.
• Analyze and interpret professional exposures, financials, claims experience, contracts, and operational controls for non-standard risks.
• Establish appropriate pricing, limits, retentions, coverage enhancements, and underwriting conditions to achieve profitability targets.
• Maintain and grow a profitable book of business while meeting or exceeding production, retention, and loss ratio goals.
• Build and deepen relationships with key agents and brokers through strategic engagement, responsiveness, and market presence.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 7+ years of underwriting experience, with significant experience in Professional Liability or Specialty Lines underwriting.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Advanced knowledge of professional liability coverage forms, endorsements, exclusions, and manuscript wording.

Pursuant to Connecticut regulation, the compensation range for this position is as stated and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.

Connecticut Pay Range$100,000—$120,000 USD
