Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- 1. Project Assessment:
- Evaluate project specifications, bid documents, and site conditions to understand the scope and requirements of pavement maintenance projects.
- Conduct on-site visits and assessments to gather accurate information related to pavement conditions, measurements, and necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, operations, and subcontractors, to ensure a clear understanding of project expectations.
- Cost Estimation:
- Utilize estimating software, historical data, and industry knowledge to develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for pavement maintenance projects.
- Provide customers with detailed and accurate pavement maintenance budget plans.
- Analyze project plans, quantities, and material requirements to determine labor, equipment, and material costs.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering alternatives while maintaining project quality and client requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and proposals, ensuring transparency and accuracy in estimating.
- Bid Preparation:
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals for pavement maintenance projects, adhering to project deadlines and requirements.
- Collaborate with the bid team to ensure comprehensive and compelling bid submissions.
- Review bid documents, contracts, and terms to understand project risks, opportunities, and contractual obligations.
- Data Analysis and Research:
- Analyze historical project data, industry trends, and market conditions to inform accurate cost estimating and bidding strategies.
- Research material costs, subcontractor pricing, and labor rates to maintain up-to-date and competitive pricing information.
- Continuously improve estimating methods and techniques based on lessons learned and industry best practices.
- Collaborative Communication:
- Work with clients, project managers, and subcontractors to clarify project details, resolve queries, and provide necessary information related to cost estimates.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, operations, and accounting, to ensure accurate handover of estimating information and project requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Pavement Maintenance Estimator or similar role in the construction industry (preferred).
- Blueprint takeoff (Bluebeam, STACK, etc.) software experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of pavement maintenance techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools.
- Technology Savvy
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized of customer, and team needs
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret project plans and specifications accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
