Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role as a Lead Principal Engineer – Robotics & Software, located in Auburn Hills, MI, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Lead Principal Engineer will oversee the design and development of advanced robotic and software systems for automotive and defense applications. Responsibilities include leading software architecture design, programming, implementing object-oriented solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring project timelines and quality standards are met. This role also involves mentoring team members and contributing to research and development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Define and own the end-to-end electrical architecture, including power distribution, compute platforms, networking, redundancy, and fault tolerance.
• Lead integration strategy for sensors, computing units, actuators, and communication systems.
• Establish electrical safety, reliability, and functional safety concepts in partnership with software and safety teams.
• Set standards for schematics, harnessing, grounding, EMC/EMI compliance, and electrical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership in supplier selection, design reviews, and make/buy decisions.
• Serve as the primary technical authority for electrical tradeoffs affecting cost, performance, and scalability.
• Support vehicle testing, durability testing, subsystem testing.
• Follow/comply with the AMG Production System Process Cycl
