Reporting to the Academic Sales Manager, the Regional Account Manager – B2B Academic Sales is responsible for driving revenue growth by managing existing academic customer relationships and developing new business opportunities within the Higher-Ed sector. The ideal candidate has a strong background selling into higher ed or works in a higher ed environment with a strong understanding of buying practices. Exceptional presentation skills, business development expertise, and the ability to engage key stakeholders are essential for success in this role!


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to capture business throughout the Northeast, specifically Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
  • Identify, develop, and cultivate new business opportunities while managing and expanding existing customer accounts.
  • Present compelling sales presentations and product demonstrations, showcasing Danby’s brand and the Microfridge combination unit
  • Collaborate across sales, finance, operations, marketing, and product management to ensure business goals are met.
  • Provide oversight, review, and follow-up with customers and distributors regarding proposals, target lists, and product pipelines.
  • Train customers and sales partners on product specifications, features, and applications for academic use.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to adapt sales strategies accordingly.
  • Manage CRM tools to ensure accurate tracking of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline opportunities.
  • Develop an annual business plan to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Attend education-focused trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events relevant to academic sales.


Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of direct work experience in B2B sales, preferably in the education sector, selling to academic institutions OR experience within a university and a strong understanding of university buying practices.
  • Experience working with/for residence life or facilities a plus.
  • Experience with MHEC or similar buying groups a plus
  • Ability to own market and develop optimal pricing strategies.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Experience and connections with universities, colleges, K-12 institutions, and educational procurement teams are highly desired.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence decision-makers in academic settings.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, finance, operations, marketing, and product management teams.
