Industry and Account-Based Marketing bring sales and marketing together as true co-owners, engaging priority accounts and industries in a more direct and strategic way. This approach delivers an integrated customer experience across both pre- and post-sales stages, builds new relationships, strengthens IBM’s reputation, and drives shared business outcomes. Your Role And Responsibilities

Role Overview

This role is responsible for defining and executing marketing strategies through an Industry and Account Based Marketing approach for target accounts. By combining deep industry understanding with account-level insights, the role helps build market reputation, strengthen long-term relationships and trust, and drive business outcomes including signings and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Identifying Target Industry Strategy

Define priority target accounts and industries, and develop highly tailored marketing strategies that address both industry-wide challenges and individual account needs.

Industry-Led Value Proposition Development

Translate industry trends, regulatory changes, and structural challenges into compelling value propositions and narratives that resonate with executive stakeholders.

Collaboration with Sales Teams

Work closely with sales as a co-owner of account and industry strategy, aligning on shared business goals such as pipeline creation, deal progression, and revenue growth.

Delivering a Unified Customer Experience

Design and execute consistent, industry-relevant customer experiences across all touchpoints—from pre-sales engagement to post-sales value realization.

Building Relationships and Trust

Deepen relationships with existing clients and establish trust with new prospects through industry-focused initiatives, thought leadership, and executive-level engagement.

Data Analysis and Insight Generation

Analyze account, industry, and market data to generate insights that inform strategic decision-making and optimize marketing effectiveness.

Leveraging Industry Knowledge (e.g. Manufacturing)

Apply expertise in specific industries (such as manufacturing) to address sector-specific challenges, use cases, and transformation priorities.

Utilizing AI and Digital Tools

Leverage AI and digital technologies to enhance, scale, and streamline marketing activities, improving both efficiency and impact.

Engaging with Internal and External Stakeholders

Collaborate with global internal teams (sales, product, consulting, legal, communications) and external partners to drive integrated, industry-aligned initiatives.

Work Style

Hybrid working model.

The role is based in the Tokyo (Toranomon) office, with an expectation to work onsite 1–2 times per week. While flexibility is valued, regular in-person collaboration is encouraged, and office attendance several times per week is anticipated.
