To meet the victory conditions established for each client project by implementing strategies to maximize efficiency and monitor production within the physician billing insurance follow-up department, ensuring the highest level of customer service is provided to all clients. The Director of Insurance – Physician is responsible for ensuring professional fee accounts are worked in a timely manner with quality insurance follow-up activity across all major payer classes. Project goals are set and expected to be reached on a monthly basis.
What You'll Do:
- Encourage a healthy work culture and environment by modeling positive, creative, and customer-focused characteristics.
- Lead a team of insurance collectors, supervisors, and managers responsible for delivering industry-leading physician billing results to multiple clients.
- Inspire high employee engagement and dedication to facilitate great client service.
- Leverage Epic professional billing modules (Resolute PB, Claims, Remittance, Work Queues) to monitor account status, identify trends, and drive follow-up activity.
- Generate, analyze, and present comprehensive reports on claim status, denial trends, and financial performance to the executive team.
- Develop strategies to optimize financial performance and minimize denials.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the insurance follow-up department and external stakeholders, including insurance carriers.
- Handle high-level escalated inquiries and complaints.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide strategic guidance.
- Identify, design, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Leverage advanced technologies and best practices in revenue cycle management.
- Achieve revenue goals for 6 of 12 months the 1st year of employment and 8 months of the 12 remaining years of employment.
- Align departmental strategies with organizational goals and objectives.
- Work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but will consider an associate degree with adequate experience and training.
- Minimum of 10 years of physician billing insurance follow-up experience preferred.
- Extensive professional fee/physician revenue cycle experience required, including knowledge of E&M coding, CPT/HCPCS, modifier usage, and physician billing payer rules.
- Minimum of 5 years in a management role leading billing and insurance follow-up agents in a physician billing environment.
- Proficiency with Epic Resolute Professional Billing, including Work Queues, Claims, Charge Review, and reporting/dashboard tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Results-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
- Ability to coach/train others on physician billing workflows and Epic system navigation.
- Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with others to meet customer expectations and provide follow-up with customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
