We are seeking a Vice President of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Renewables to lead strategic sales growth across large industrial customers and renewable energy developers.
Position Summary
The Vice President of C&I and Renewables will lead the strategy, sales execution, and growth of Virginia Transformer’s Commercial & Industrial and renewable energy markets. This executive will be responsible for expanding market share with industrial customers, EPC contractors, renewable developers, and engineering firms requiring large-scale power transformer solutions.
This role requires a highly experienced capital equipment sales leader with deep knowledge of electrical infrastructure markets, long sales cycles, and complex engineered solutions. The successful candidate will have extensive experience selling electrical capital equipment with deal values typically exceeding $100,000 per unit.
The VP will lead and develop a high-performing sales organization while working closely with executive leadership, engineering, and operations to deliver strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Market Leadership – C&I and Renewables
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and renewable energy markets.
- Expand relationships with large industrial customers, renewable developers, EPC contractors, and consulting engineers.
- Identify and capture opportunities in sectors including data centers, manufacturing, mining, electrification, solar, wind, and battery storage.
- Strengthen Virginia Transformer’s presence in high-growth infrastructure markets.
Sales Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of market managers, sales engineers, and account leaders.
- Drive growth through strategic account management and new customer acquisition.
- Manage complex sales cycles involving engineering specifications, EPC contractors, and long-term infrastructure projects.
- Deliver consistent revenue growth across assigned markets.
Strategic Account Development
- Build executive-level relationships with key customers and strategic partners.
- Influence specifications with engineering firms and major infrastructure developers.
- Support large project pursuits involving multi-year infrastructure investments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to align product solutions with market needs.
- Support pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and project execution.
- Ensure customer expectations are aligned with manufacturing capacity and delivery schedules.
Market Strategy
- Identify emerging opportunities across electrification, industrial modernization, and renewable energy expansion.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and infrastructure investment programs.
- Position Virginia Transformer as a preferred supplier for mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
Qualifications
Experience
- 15–20 years of sales leadership experience in electrical infrastructure, industrial equipment, or power systems markets.
- Proven success selling electrical capital equipment or engineered industrial solutions with deal sizes typically exceeding $100,000 per unit.
- Experience working with industrial customers, EPC firms, consulting engineers, utilities, and renewable developers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and grow high-performing sales organizations.
Industry Background
Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:
- Power transformers
- Electrical infrastructure
- Switchgear or power distribution equipment
- Power systems or grid equipment
- Renewable energy infrastructure
- Industrial power systems
Leadership Skills
- Strategic commercial leadership and market development.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence large customers and partners.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, manufacturing, and operations.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Location Requirement
This role is based in Roanoke, Virginia, at Virginia Transformer’s headquarters.
Relocation to the Roanoke area is required in order to maintain close collaboration with executive leadership and engineering teams.
