Swift Current Energy, a renewable energy project developer, owner and operator (“Swift Current” or the “Company”) is seeking a Vice President of Government & Regulatory Affairs to lead the Company’s engagement with governmental, regulatory, and policy stakeholders across its core U.S. markets. The Company has primary offices in Texas (Houston, Austin) and Massachusetts (Boston); preferably this role is based in one of the Company’s offices. Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Job Scope:

The primary responsibilities of the Vice President of Government & Regulatory Affairs include the following:


  • Develop and execute focused strategies across federal, regional (ISO/RTO), and state jurisdictions, prioritizing initiatives that directly impact development timelines, market access, and asset performance.
  • Establish a state-centric engagement model supported by in-market advisors, lobbyists, and strategic partners.
  • Engage alongside—and oversee—the company’s external advisors, including lobbyists and regulatory counsel, ensuring alignment with company priorities.
  • Translate developments into clear, actionable insights that inform internal teams and support proactive development and operational project planning.
  • Support financing, M&A and other transactional and commercial activity by assessing regulatory considerations that may affect execution and outcomes.
  • Create durable internal processes that improve visibility, coordination, and institutional knowledge.
  • Monitor and respond to developments affecting renewable energy, power markets, siting, permitting, and data center/large-load policy.
  • Ad hoc tasks as required from time to time


The expected travel for this position is ~30%. Job responsibilities may evolve based on Company needs and individual career growth. Exact title of this role will be commensurate with experience. This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer.


Qualifications:

  • Ten (10)-plus years of experience in regulatory and public policy roles, including leadership roles within this area; demonstrated knowledge and experience with advocacy across various U.S. markets
  • Ten (10)-plus years of experience in the clean energy sector, preferably with experience within an independent power producer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Political Science or related field, or equivalent work experience; master’s degree is a plus.
  • Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.

  • Strategic thinker; capable of translating knowledge of market and relationships with key stakeholders into actionable strategies and positive results for the Company
  • Adaptable and broad working style; capable of being hands on and diving into the details while crafting a functional vision and strategy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Collaborative and capable of working across a geographically dispersed team
  • Passion and commitment for the clean energy sector
