Senior Estimation Manager

Swift Current Energy, a renewable energy project developer, owner and operator (“Swift Current” or the “Company”) is seeking a Senior Estimation Manager to support the Company’s development, engineering, procurement, construction and operations of its wind, solar, and energy storage projects. The Company has primary offices in Texas (Houston, Austin) and Massachusetts (Boston); preferably this role is based in one of the Company’s offices. Remote candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis with periodic travel expected to Company offices and project sites.


The Senior Estimation Manager will lead conceptual and detailed estimating efforts, support EPC and major equipment procurement activities, develop cost benchmarks and market intelligence, and help ensure projects are positioned for successful execution through accurate budgeting, risk assessment, and schedule-aligned cost forecasting.

Job Scope:

The Senior Estimation Manager will work collaboratively with Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management to develop, validate, and maintain project cost estimates from early-stage development through construction handoff. The primary responsibilities include the following:


  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed capital cost estimates for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.


  • Coordinate with Development and Execution teams to align estimate assumptions with project design maturity and execution strategy.


  • Support EPC and Capital Equipment procurement efforts, including bid leveling, scope normalization, commercial evaluations, and pricing analyses.


  • Maintain and update estimating databases, historical benchmarks, labor assumptions, production rates, and escalation assumptions.


  • Perform quantity takeoffs and validate engineering deliverables to support estimate accuracy.


  • Develop schedule-aligned estimate assumptions, including escalation, contingency, indirect costs, and risk allowances.


  • Support Basis of Estimate (BOE) development and investment committee materials.


  • Conduct market pricing analyses for major equipment, subcontracted scopes, labor, and construction commodities.


  • Support estimate risk assessments, Monte Carlo/sensitivity analyses, and scenario evaluations.


  • Collaborate with Procurement and Project Management teams on contracting strategies and commercial execution plans.


  • Assist in evaluating alternative technical and execution approaches to optimize project cost and schedule outcomes.


  • Support project transition from development into execution through estimate turnover and assumption alignment.


  • Develop effective relationships with EPC contractors, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to maintain current market intelligence.


  • Additional duties as required.


The expected travel for this position is 15%. Job responsibilities may evolve based on Company needs and individual career growth. This role reports to the Vice President of Pre-Construction.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in estimating, cost engineering, construction, or project controls for utility-scale energy or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience developing EPC, BOP, or self-perform construction estimates for renewable energy projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of utility-scale solar, wind, and/or battery energy storage construction methods and project execution.
  • Experience with estimate development across varying levels of engineering/design maturity.
  • Knowledge of labor productivity, construction indirects, equipment pricing, logistics, and subcontractor market conditions.
  • Experience supporting EPC RFPs, bid evaluations, and commercial analyses.
  • Familiarity with estimating software, cost databases, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.
