Principal Product Designer - Core Platform

About us:
We believe the next generation of financial services will be powered by stablecoins.
Founded in 2021, our mission at BVNK is to accelerate global money movement.
We’re building stablecoin-native infrastructure so businesses can move value instantly across borders and networks. With global licenses and T1 bank partnerships, we facilitate billions in transactions for enterprise clients like Worldpay, Deel, LianLian Global, and Rapyd.
Our technology is transforming how businesses operate globally by eliminating payment delays, reducing costs, and unlocking trapped capital.
We’re a diverse team spread across EMEA, North America, and APAC, with a shared belief that stablecoins are the new infrastructure layer for financial services, and that BVNK is at the forefront of this shift.
In 2025, we secured strategic investment from Visa, following our $50 million Series B with Haun Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, Scribble Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Avenir, and Tiger Global. With the backing of these leading investors, we’re accelerating our growth – and we're looking for smart, ambitious people to help us build the future of financial services.
We're incredibly honored to have made Newsweek's list of The Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces three years running (most recently in 2025) and to have been recognised by LinkedIn as one of the Top 20 Startups in the UK in 2024.
About this role in the team:
Design at BVNK is scaling into 2 areas: Customer Value Stream (the surfaces our clients use to send, receive, store, and convert) and Core Platform (the systems that make all of it work). We're hiring a Principal Product Designer to own design for Core Platform and Fincrime.
This is the chess end of design at BVNK. The work spans onboarding, treasury, reconciliation, billing, core processing, and financial crime — compliance case management, sanctions and transaction monitoring, internal ops tooling, and the platform primitives every customer-facing product depends on. The users are experts — compliance analysts, ops teams, finance — and the design problems are about taming real complexity, holding several constraints in your head at once, and finding the move that's both correct and elegant.
You'll be one of two Principal Designers, reporting to the Head of Design, and partnering closely with the Directors of Product for Platform and Fincrime on long-range strategy. While we continue to build out the senior bench, you'll also work day-to-day alongside our senior product managers on the problems in front of us. The pod includes our Lead Designer for the Design System, whose work you'll help shape strategically.
As the area grows, this role has a path into design management.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Own design for Core Platform and Fincrime end-to-end
- Set the design direction for Product Platform (onboarding, treasury & reconciliation, billing, core processing) and Fincrime (compliance, monitoring, case management)
- Partner with PM and engineering to define problems, explore solution spaces, validate concepts, and ship product improvements that move the metrics that matter for these areas — operational efficiency, false-positive rates, time-to-resolution, onboarding conversion, platform reliability
- Stay involved through launch and iteration. Handoff is not the finish line.
Work AI-first, not AI-curious
- Start in an LLM. Use Claude to clarify intent, draft short PRDs, pressure-test approaches, and surface risks, edge cases, and second-order effects before involving the wider team
- Prototype with Claude Code. Generate working flows and interfaces, then guide them on structure, behaviour, and UX quality. Partner with engineers on what graduates into the product
- Treat research as a velocity tool, not a gate. Talk to internal users (ops, compliance, finance) and external customers directly; run small tests; adjust direction quickly
- Bring work into Figma for full state coverage, system alignment, and production readiness once direction is validated
Design for the 80/20 in a complex domain
- Encode the judgment and complexity required for regulated, high-stakes workflows under the hood, while keeping the default experience simple and successful for most users
- Build for expert users without falling into the trap of exposing every option. Decide what to surface, what to automate, and what to hide
- Hold the line on design quality across surfaces that are easy to neglect because they're internal
Raise the bar across the design org
- Run crits and design reviews in your area, and contribute to them across the team
- Mentor senior and mid-level designers; help them grow into harder problems
- Share prompts, patterns, workflows, and learnings — what works with LLMs, what doesn't, what's worth standardising
- Partner with the Lead Designer for the Design System (who sits in this pod) on the strategic direction of the system, making sure Core Platform work strengthens it
What we need from you:
- A portfolio that demonstrates leading design for complex, operational, or expert-user products — not just consumer surfaces. Compliance, ops tooling, financial systems, developer platforms, healthcare workflows, or similar
- Evidence of shipping work that moved real business or operational metrics, and an ability to talk about those numbers fluently
- Fluent, daily use of LLMs and AI prototyping tools as part of your actual workflow — not as something you've read about. Be prepared to show us how you use them
- Senior craft in Figma, prototyping, and design systems, with the judgment to know when each is the right tool and when it isn't
- A track record of operating as a senior IC across multiple product areas and influencing peers, PMs, and engineering leaders
- Experience in fintech, payments, crypto/stablecoins, or another regulated domain is a strong plus but not required if the operational/expert-UX experience is there
- Excellent written communication. A lot of our work happens async, and clarity compounds
What you can expect from us:
- Fair and competitive salary at every stage of your growth
- Flexible working hours, with hybrid working at its heart
- A culture built on passionate, growth-minded people
- A flexible approach to holiday
- Opportunities to travel to our offices around the world
- An open and creative environment where you can help us define the future of BVNK, its culture, and its opportunity sets
At BVNK, we are focused on building a diverse and inclusive team. While you may not meet all of our requirements, we’d encourage you to apply if you meet the majority of our expectations. You may be a great fit for this role or another role in our team.
