About The Role

This is a contract Senior Developer opportunity based in Auckland, running through to the end of December 2026. You will be embedded within an established technology team, contributing to enterprise integration and back-end development across complex, high-availability environments. This is a hands-on role where your technical depth will be put to work from day one.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Developing and maintaining Java-based back-end services and APIs
• Designing, configuring, and supporting IBM DataPower gateway solutions
• Troubleshooting and resolving integration issues across enterprise systems
• Collaborating with architects and project teams to deliver technical solutions
• Contributing to code reviews, documentation, and technical best practices

About You

You are a senior-level developer who is equally comfortable deep in Java code as you are working with DataPower gateway configuration. You bring a pragmatic approach, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and can hit the ground running in a contract environment.

Key Skills And Experience

• Strong, proven Java back-end development experience (Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices)
• Hands-on IBM DataPower experience (configuration, policy development, troubleshooting)
• Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns and web services (REST, SOAP, XML, JSON)
• Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently within a team
• Any experience with API management platforms (IBM API Connect, MuleSoft, or similar) is a plus
