About The Opportunity
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare develops medical devices that improve patient care and outcomes.
This embedded software role sits within a small, multidisciplinary product development team that values practical problem solving and real-world impact. We’re looking for an experienced embedded software engineer to bring both technical depth and strong communication to the role.
You’ll work with existing embedded devices—extending and enhancing them with new capabilities and algorithms to support new functionality. You’ll take ownership of software direction, apply sound engineering judgement, and help guide the product through development and into clinical trials.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborating with original developers to build a deep understanding of existing embedded software architectures
- Analysing system behaviour through documentation, specifications, and hands-on investigation
- Modifying and extending software to meet new product requirements
- Prototyping, testing, and refining solutions for evaluation and clinical trial readiness
- Providing technical leadership in embedded software within a small, multidisciplinary team
- Strong experience in embedded software or firmware development
- Comfortable working with mature hardware platforms and technical documentation
- Sound technical judgement, with a focus on delivering practical outcomes
- Ability to lead software direction and collaborate closely with clinical, mechanical, and electrical specialists
