ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our product engineering team. Mobile is at the heart of how our customers use Hectre — in the orchard, in the packhouse, and everywhere in between. This is a full-stack role where you'll work across the entire product surface, with a strong emphasis on mobile experiences, backed by robust backend services and web applications. At Hectre, engineers don't work in silos. You'll move fluidly between codebases, collaborating with product, design, and customer success teams to ship solutions that matter. We value action over analysis paralysis, and we iterate continuously rather than waiting for perfection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and ship mobile features using Flutter, with occasional Swift or Kotlin for native integrations
• Build and maintain backend services using Node.js/TypeScript on AWS
• Develop features across our web applications (Vue/React)
• Work on embedded software solutions using Golang for our proprietary hardware
• Design and implement APIs, event-driven architectures, and serverless solutions
• Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate AI capabilities into production systems
• Leverage AI-powered development tools as a core part of your everyday workflow
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Mobile development experience — Flutter preferred; Swift or Kotlin a strong plus
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Solid AWS experience (Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SQS, CDK, or similar)
• Demonstrated ability to work across the full stack
• Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
• A genuine working relationship with AI development tools — you use them daily, not occasionally, and you're curious about pushing that further

Bonus (or willingness to learn):

• Frontend frameworks such as Vue.js or React
• Systems programming with Golang
• Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices
• Background in agtech, food production, or supply chain software
