Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Azure SQL / SQL Server databases to support enterprise grade applications
- Develop and optimize T SQL, stored procedures, functions, views, and indexes
- Ensure database performance, scalability, availability, and data integrity
- Partner closely with application developers to support backend and full stack features
- Implement and manage database deployments using PowerShell and automated release pipelines
- Support CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps and GitHub
- Perform schema versioning, migration, partitioning, and release coordination across environments
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform performance tuning and root cause analysis
- Enforce database security, access controls, and best practices
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG’s respectful and courteous work environment
- Minimum six years of recent, strong experience as a Senior Database Developer or equivalent role
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred; minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required
- Advanced expertise in SQL Server / Azure SQL
- Strong T SQL development skills (stored procedures, indexing, query optimization)
- Experience with Azure hosted databases and cloud-based architectures; solid experience working with Azure DevOps pipelines and GitHub for version control
- Hands on experience with PowerShell for database deployment and automation
- Solid understanding of database design principles and data modeling
- Experience supporting applications built on .NET / C# (backend integration)
- Proven track record of working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM, or Terraform, experience with database monitoring, performance diagnostics, and tuning in Azure is preferred
- Familiarity with security, auditing, and compliance requirements
- Strong experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
- Individual contributor role with strong ownership of database architecture and delivery
- Collaborative mindset, working closely with full stack, backend, and DevOps teams
