Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 10AM to 6PM Manila time (semi-flexible), overlaps with UK operating hours

Employment type: Permanent

Location: Makati City, Metro Manila

Pay range: Php 62,000 to 84,000

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer who will be part of our Exams Technology Organisation – IELTS Development Team in Manila. The successful applicant will play a key role in creating and developing applications used to deliver exams and qualifications worldwide.

What will you do as a [Software Engineer]?

Reporting to the [Software Development Lead], your accountabilities will include:

  • designing applications/solutions based on given requirements, documenting the designs and providing time estimates
  • developing working software
  • giving technical and business support to customers, helpdesk, and other internal personnel to meet business and operational requirements
  • performing unit testing and assisting with the testing and training process in conjunction with interested parties
  • transfer knowledge and information to other team members to ensure the team operates efficiently

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?

An ideal candidate has the following qualities:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a software development role with intermediate proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and REST API development
  • Experience working with AWS Cloud Services or similar, including but not limited to S3, SQS, RDS, CloudFormation, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch
  • Ability to design and implement effective software solutions with minimal supervision
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as GitLab and Bitbucket

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Innovative and research-driven, eager to transform bold ideas into practical solutions

Note: Successful candidates will be invited to an interview after completing an online proctored technical exam. Updates can be shared in the last two weeks of June or first week of July.
