Software engineer - Core platform

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our tech team at KanEL. You’ll work on the core systems that power our platform, building, operating, and evolving the infrastructure that connects our energy assets, data, and services.

KanEL is an AI-first energy company, where modern tools are part of how we design, build, and operate systems. With a small and focused team, you’ll take real ownership of production systems that are critical to our business.

You will work across backend services, data pipelines, and infrastructure, ensuring our platform is reliable, scalable, and easy to evolve.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core platform services
• Own systems end to end, from development to production
• Improve performance, scalability, and observability
• Ensure reliable data flows from connected energy assets
• Use modern tools, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve speed and quality
• Collaborate with the team on architecture and technical decisions

Who we are looking for

• 3+ years of experience building and operating production systems
• Comfortable owning services in production, not just writing code
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)
• Experience working with databases and real-world data
• Structured, pragmatic, and able to move forward in unclear situations
• Curious about improving how you work, including using AI tools
• Good communication skills in Swedish and English
• Enjoys working in a small team with high ownership

• Experience designing systems for reliability and scale
• Experience with real-time or event-driven systems
• Experience with infrastructure as code
• Experience working with IoT, hardware, or physical systems
• Strong habits around monitoring, debugging, and improving systems in production
