Full Job Description

My client is a globally recognised digital solutions and strategy leader, partnering with enterprise organisations to transform how they build, scale, and operate technology in an AI-first world.

They are seeking a highly experienced Senior AI Engineer to join on an initial 6-month contract, working at the intersection of engineering, AI, and strategy.

This role goes beyond traditional development. You will act as both a technical leader and advisor — shaping engineering transformation initiatives, guiding teams on AI adoption, and delivering production-grade systems that directly impact business performance.

You will work within high-performing, cross-functional teams, collaborating with senior stakeholders across engineering, product, and business functions.

Tasks Will Include

• Leading AI-assisted and AI-led transformation across engineering teams and delivery functions
• Designing, building, and deploying AI-powered applications aligned to commercial outcomes
• Developing advanced prompt engineering strategies and optimising LLM performance
• Architecting scalable RAG pipelines, embedding strategies, and retrieval systems
• Designing and implementing multi-agent systems (planner, executor, verifier, critic patterns)
• Driving adoption of AI developer tooling (e.g. Cursor, Claude, Codex) to improve engineering productivity
• Advising clients on architecture, microservices, build processes, and engineering best practices
• Leading technical discovery, solution design, and implementation across complex environments
• Contributing across the full SDLC — from architecture through to deployment, testing, and optimisation

Tech Stack / Skills

• Strong full stack engineering background with deep Python capability
• Proven experience building and deploying LLM / AI-powered systems in production
• Strong expertise in prompt engineering, structured outputs, and reasoning frameworks
• Experience designing RAG pipelines and optimising retrieval and embedding strategies
• Experience with multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks
• Strong API development experience (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)
• Deep understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and modern engineering practices
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure), including scalability and high-availability design

Preferred Experience

• Experience in consulting or client-facing engineering environments
• Background in start-ups, scale-ups, or high-growth tech environments
• Strong system design capability across distributed and scalable architectures
• Experience working with enterprise clients (Global 1000 environments)
• Strong understanding of LLM evaluation (reasoning quality, hallucination, task success)
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server)
