Senior Design Engineer (AI-Accelerated) (d/f/m)
Indexed description
This role sits at the heart of how our Digital Experience team works. You'll own design quality, lead user research, and help architect the systems, libraries, and AI-powered workflows that allow us to move from idea to live page faster than ever before. Working closely with engineering, you'll explore how repeatable pages can go from a prompt straight into our CMS, across multiple European markets each with their own language, layout, and cultural requirements.
Role Responsibilities: What You'll Do
DESIGN, MOTION & VISUAL CRAFT
- Own end-to-end design for web surfaces and digital experience touchpoints, from early concept through to polished, detailed specs
- Bring a high level of craft to everything you touch: typography, layout, colour, hierarchy, and motion should all feel considered and intentional
- Build high-fidelity interactive prototypes that help the team align quickly, explore edge cases, and reduce ambiguity before build begins
- Design and implement motion as a core part of the experience, from micro-interactions to scroll-driven storytelling, helping close the gap between our website and product experience with a close eye on performance
- Design with accessibility at the forefront, applying WCAG 2.1 AA as a minimum and staying current with European accessibility legislation including the EAA
- Design with internationalisation in mind from day one, considering text expansion and market-specific conventions across DE, UK, ES, FR, NL and others
- Build and evolve our web component and template library, the foundations that allow the team to assemble high-quality pages consistently and at pace
- Design and implement AI-powered workflows on top of those foundations: rapid prototyping pipelines, AI-assisted design-to-code handoffs, and prompt-driven layout generation
- Work closely with engineering to develop "prompt to build" workflows, where repeatable page types can be generated directly into our CMS from structured prompts using the component library as building blocks
- Document components, usage guidelines, and prompting frameworks so workflows are repeatable and accessible across the team
- Plan and conduct user research to inform and validate your designs, from problem framing through to synthesis and clear recommendations
- Run usability tests across prototypes and live experiences, coordinating across markets where relevant
- Maintain a living repository of insights and advocate for the user in design and stakeholder reviews
- 4-6 years in digital, product or web design, with a portfolio demonstrating genuine visual craft and UX thinking
- B2B SaaS experience; you understand the design challenges of software marketing and product surfaces
- Demonstrable motion design skills; your portfolio should include animation and interaction work, not just static screens
- Experience building or contributing to design systems or component libraries
- Genuine, daily fluency with AI tools such as Claude, Figma AI, or similar; this should be a natural part of how you already work
- Excitement about AI-assisted build workflows and connecting design systems to CMS-driven, prompt-powered page generation
- Proficiency in Figma including component architecture, variables, auto-layout, and prototyping
- Experience designing for multiple languages or markets
- Experience planning and running your own user research and usability tests
- Enough front-end literacy to collaborate fluently with engineers and have informed conversations about implementation
- Experience with CMS-integrated design systems (e.g. Contentful, Sanity, Webflow)
- Experience with research tools like Maze, UserTesting, or Lookback
- Fluency in German or Dutch
