Overview
This is a senior, high‑impact role responsible for driving the practical adoption of Artificial Intelligence and automation across the business. The Lead AI Engineer will act as the central internal technical authority for AI, ensuring scalable, secure, and value‑driven solutions that improve project delivery, cost control, and operational performance.
The role will also support integrating AI capabilities across HR, Finance, Procurement, Marketing and other support functions, preventing fragmented or duplicated AI development.

- Project forecasting (cost, margin, and progress)
- Document intelligence and workflow automation
- BIM and design coordination support
- Procurement and materials optimisation
- AI integration with ERP and core business systems
- Define and implement AI architecture, standards, and governance
- Lead AI strategy, roadmap, and prioritisation based on ROI and scalability
- Research and vet AI tools (LLMs, RPA, predictive analytics) to solve specific business problems—balancing "off-the-shelf" software with custom-built integrations.
- Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) trials for new technologies and manage relationships with external AI vendors and consultants.
- Design and deliver AI, automation, and data solutions across departments
- Integrate AI capabilities into ERP, APIs, and enterprise platforms
- Data Harmonisation : Lead the transition from fragmented spreadsheets to structured data environments (e.g., Dataverse or SQL) to ensure AI models have a 'Single Source of Truth' to work from.
- Establish ethical, secure, and GDPR‑compliant AI guardrails
- Drive change management through education, workshops, and demonstrations
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline
- 8+ years in Digital Transformation driving digital innovation
- 5+ years Machine Learning or applied AI given the capability is quite recent
- Strong Python and data engineering skills
- Experience deploying AI/ML systems in production
- Strong understanding of GenAI, NLP, automation, and integration architecture
- Experience with ERP integration (SAP desirable)
- Familiarity with BIM and construction/engineering environments preferred
- Experience with Azure Enterprise AI, AWS Enterprise AI, private LLM deployments, or equivalent
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Integration architecture (APIs, middleware, connectors)
- Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate) and Azure AI Studio
- Structured data environments (Dataverse, SQL)
- Security‑first AI design and governance
