Join Fidelity's Enterprise Technology Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (ET AI CoE) to help shape the next generation of AI. In this role, you will design and build critical AI capabilities and services for institutional and retail clients. As a Principal Data Scientist, you will serve as a hands-on technical leader and mentor, guiding standard processes across NLP, speech analytics, and generative AI model development.

You will engage directly with business partners to navigate the complexities of artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and machine learning, delivering scalable, production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of NLP, speech analytics, and generative AI models.
• Mentor and uplift other engineers while fostering collaborative partnerships.
• Drive architectural decisions and champion engineering excellence.
• Translate business requirements into real-world AI-driven solutions that deliver measurable value (revenue, cost savings, customer experience).
• Decompose research or tactical deliverables into modular, reusable, strategic capabilities.
• Communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical partners.

• Education: Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• AI/ML Production: Proven experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML models in production with deep understanding of MLOps standards (scalable architectures, reproducibility, monitoring, CI/CD, compliance).
• NLP & Language: Extensive hands-on expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP), computational linguistics, entity recognition, text summarization, and conversational analytics.
• Programming: Proficient in Python with experience in modern ML libraries (PyTorch, transformers, etc.).
• Cloud Experience: Knowledge of cloud-based workflows (AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, Athena, Snowflake).
• RAG Pipelines: Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation for context-aware responses.
• Audio & Speech: Experience with audio data pipelines, speech recognition (ASR), audio-to-audio processing, and conversational AI (dialogue systems, call transcription, voice assistants).
• Real-Time Data: Experience with streaming technologies (Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Apache Pulsar).
• Hardware Optimization: Hands-on CUDA/GPU optimization experience for accelerating AI/ML workloads.

Base Salary Range: $126,000 - $255,000 USD per year (placement varies based on scope, location, and experience).

Additional Compensation: Potential for bonus or variable compensation.
