Responsibilities
Fiber Infrastructure Delivery & Customer Solutions
- Engage with colocation, hyperscale, and enterprise customers to understand fiber connectivity requirements and translate them into technical delivery solutions.
- Design, scope, and manage end-to-end fiber infrastructure projects across the data center campus, including inter-building, intra-hall, and meet-me room (MMR) connectivity.
- Coordinate with sales, pre-sales engineering, and project management teams to ensure accurate fiber solution proposals and delivery timelines.
- Oversee the procurement, installation, labeling, and testing of structured fiber cabling systems (single-mode and multi-mode, OS2, OM3/OM4/OM5).
- Manage third-party fiber installation vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with data center standards and SLAs.
- Deliver customer cross-connects, dark fiber, and managed wavelength solutions in accordance with agreed specifications.
- Provide technical operational support for all installed fiber infrastructure, including troubleshooting, fault isolation, and restoration.
- Conduct and oversee Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing, insertion loss measurements, and end-face inspections.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for fiber-related incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform and manage scheduled preventive maintenance on fiber distribution frames (FDFs), patch panels, trunk cables, and associated passive infrastructure.
- Support capacity planning activities by maintaining accurate fiber inventory, port utilization tracking, and forecasting future fiber demand.
- Maintain comprehensive as-built documentation, fiber route maps, and cabling records to BICSI, TIA-568, and ISO/IEC 11801 standards.
- Enforce data center cabling standards, color-coding conventions, labeling policies, and change control procedures.
- Support internal and external audits related to physical layer infrastructure.
- Contribute to the development and review of fiber management policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, account managers, and operations teams on all fiber-related matters.
- Liaise with network engineering, power & cooling, security, and facilities teams to support integrated infrastructure projects.
- Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting on fiber project delivery and operational health.
- Mentor and develop junior fiber technicians and operations staff.
