Founding Software Engineer

Location: San Francisco / Hybrid / On-site

Compensation: $150k to $300k

Why This Role Exists

You’ll design and build the systems that power the product — from APIs and data models to real-time pipelines and secure infrastructure. You’ll be a core technical owner working directly with the founders.

What You’ll Do

• Architect backend services and distributed systems
  

• Build scalable APIs and sync workflows
  

• Ship full-stack features when needed
  

• Own performance, reliability, and security
  

• Work directly with founders on technical direction
  

• Set engineering standards and tooling
  

• Leverage AI developer tools to accelerate delivery

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Python (Django/FastAPI) or Go
  

• Solid React experience
  

• Proven production system design
  

• Cloud-native on AWS
  

• Startup mindset and comfort with ambiguity

Nice to Have

• Kafka / message queues
  

• Postgres / DynamoDB
  

• Terraform / Kubernetes
  

• Regulated environments (healthcare / fin tech)
  

• LLM integrations, AI severability, or internal AI tooling
