The Account Executive is responsible for building and growing strong customer relationships while driving new and existing business across assigned accounts. This role takes a consultative approach to sales, leading conversations that focus on customer priorities, shaping solutions with delivery teams and partners, and guiding opportunities from initial discovery through close.


Account Executives at Ascend operate as trusted advisors to their customers. By engaging with stakeholders at various levels of the organization, you will help customers navigate change, adopt new capabilities, and realize measurable business value. Internally, you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure solutions are well‑designed, achievable, and aligned with customer needs.


This role is well‑suited to someone who brings strong account management experience, a consistent record of meeting or exceeding sales goals, and the ability to balance relationship‑building with commercial outcomes. Success requires curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to delivering value for both customers and Ascend.

Please note, travel may be required up to 50% or more to meet sales objectives, and to attend company events and industry conferences.


Position Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the sales strategy for an assigned territory or account portfolio, developing and managing account plans aligned to Ascend’s revenue goals and customer outcomes.
  • Build, grow, and maintain strong enterprise‑level client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to customers throughout the full sales and account lifecycle.
  • Drive new business and account expansion by developing a deep understanding of customer organizations, priorities, and industry landscape.
  • Develop and maintain accurate sales forecasts, track pipeline activity, and manage opportunities to achieve individual and team sales targets.
  • Lead customer engagements from initial discovery through close, collaborating with internal delivery teams and partners to shape effective, achievable solutions.
  • Advocate for customers internally by aligning cross‑functional stakeholders and ensuring client needs are clearly understood and addressed.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities through research, strategic outreach, and leveraging existing industry relationships and networks.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to compelling sales materials, developing proposals, and responding to RFQs as needed.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of EPM/CPM solutions, relevant technologies, and industry trends to position Ascend’s offerings effectively.
  • Represent Ascend professionally in the market by fostering long‑term partnerships and reinforcing Ascend’s credibility and value proposition.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and customer‑focused sales culture at Ascend.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or a related client‑facing role, with a focus on enterprise customers.
  • Demonstrated success selling solutions in a consultative manner, including the ability to understand customer needs and translate them into tailored recommendations.
  • Experience engaging and building relationships with senior and executive‑level stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to articulate value clearly and credibly.
  • Proven experience managing pipeline, forecasting revenue, and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑based environment.
  • Experience selling consulting services, enterprise software, or technology‑enabled solutions.
  • Experience working with CPM/EPM solutions, analytics platforms, or finance‑related systems, or demonstrated ability to quickly develop expertise in these areas.
  • Experience leading or contributing to complex deals and long sales cycles, including RFQs or formal proposal processes.
  • Experience selling into both private and public sector organizations.
  • Strong understanding of sales strategy, territory planning, and account growth tactics.
  • Experience with OneStream sales is considered an asset.
