We are a growing Potsdam/Germany-based startup operating a distributed microservices platform used by 10+ customers across Europe. Our 10-person engineering team builds and operates a modern AWS-based SaaS solution. This role strengthens our cloud solution development to support further market expansion, customer growth, continued reliability, and developer productivity.

Role Overview

As Senior Cloud Solution Developer NodeJS, you will make significant contributions to and be a leading brain for solution design, micro-services architecture, process automation, as well as operational excellence and the stability of our AWS environment. You will work hands-on translating business requirements into leading edge, high-performance solutions thereby operating with IaC, serverless, networking, observability, and security, and through all this help drive the further evolution of our cloud strategy in a pragmatic, startup-friendly way.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, further develop and maintain our PANION cloud solution build on an advanced AWS infrastructure stack for distributed microservices (ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Athena, CloudWatch, …).
• Further reliability, scalability, monitoring, and security across our production systems.
• Review and evolve CDK modules, IaC testing, drift detection, and automation standards.
• Maintain and optimize GitHub Actions and the entire CI/CD pipeline including AWS CodeBuild, CodePipeline etc.
• Review and advance metrics, logs, tracing, dashboards, alarms, and runbooks.
• Further develop IAM, secrets management, KMS, VPC design, and security best practices.
• Support other developers and help define architectural standards.
• Be a contributor to the SOC II/ISO 27001 certification for the service and the company.

Requirements

• 6+ years software/cloud engineering, 3+ years AWS production experience.
• Deep understanding of Node.js runtime, event loop, and asynchronous programming model
• Scripting with TypeScript.
• Strong skills in AWS core services, CDK, ECS, CI/CD, observability, and networking.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and ownership mindset suitable for a small team.

Nice to Have

• Startup experience.
• Experience with B2B enterprise cloud applications including integration to customer backend systems.
• Strong grasp of OOP fundamentals
• Experience with event-driven architecture.
• Relevant AWS certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer)
• Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript features and ecosystem tooling
• Proficiency with frameworks like NestJS, Express, or Fastify
• Cost optimization/FinOps.
