A fast-scaling technology company in Berlin is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help build and scale a complex product platform used across privacy, identity, and secure data exchange.

The platform enables businesses and individuals to take ownership of their digital identity through decentralised infrastructure designed for trust, security, and cross-border interoperability.

This is a senior IC role with high ownership, combining architecture, hands-on engineering, and technical leadership across a global product team.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and improve core product features across frontend, backend, and platform systems
• Own complex technical problems across performance, scalability, reliability, and system design
• Work closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality product outcomes
• Drive improvements across code quality, testing, security, and engineering best practices
• Build and maintain scalable cloud-native services and microservice-based systems
• Take features from concept to production with strong ownership and minimal oversight
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical standards across the wider engineering team
• Mentor engineers and help improve team processes, tooling, and development practices

Tech Stack

Strong engineering fundamentals matter more than exact tooling.

You Should Have

• Strong full-stack engineering experience across modern backend and frontend systems
• Deep expertise with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and React Strong cloud experience, ideally AWS and distributed systems at scale
• Experience designing and deploying microservices in production environments
• Strong understanding of performance optimisation, testing, and maintainable architecture
• Comfort owning complex features end-to-end with minimal guidance
• Strong product mindset with clear communication and collaboration across teams
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising engineering standards

• Experience building SDKs, APIs, CLIs, or developer platforms
• Background in privacy, identity, security, or infrastructure-heavy products
• Exposure to Go, Rust, Java, or other backend-heavy languages
• Experience with decentralised systems or cryptography-related products
