Job Title
Software Engineer (Low Latency Video & Networking)
Salary
Up to £130k + Equity
Company Description
Venture-backed robotics infrastructure startup building the data layer for autonomous systems
Job Description
You will build foundational teleoperation infrastructure that enables remote human control of humanoid robots and autonomous vehicles globally. Working directly with the founders, you'll own a custom sub-40ms glass-to-glass video protocol and a distributed mesh network. This is a deep systems role where your code determines if a robot successfully navigates real-world edge cases.
Location
London, UK
Why this role is remarkable
- Work on a proprietary, ground-up alternative to WebRTC, delivering industry-leading sub-40ms latency for high-fidelity robotic control.
- Join a small, elite team of three at a venture-backed startup providing critical operational infrastructure to the world's fastest-growing robotics companies.
- Influence the future of autonomy by building the platform that converts human interventions into high-quality training data for humanoid robots and AVs.
- Develop and optimize a custom low-latency video streaming protocol and in-house Kafka-like streaming library for real-time data transmission.
- Engineer multi-path bonding solutions across LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi to ensure reliable robot connectivity in challenging environments.
- Integrate low-level networking stacks and custom renderers directly into robotic fleets, including humanoid robots and industrial arms.
- Professional experience building low-latency video streaming, custom networking protocols, or real-time distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in Rust, or a background in C/C++ with a deep desire to master Rust for high-performance systems programming.
- Familiarity with robotics middleware such as ROS2, Zenoh, or DDS, or experience in related fields like cloud gaming and IoT fleet management.
