We are growing quickly and are looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to own the communication systems that guide members from initial interest to meaningful engagement, continued participation, retention, and long-term value.
About the Role
This is not a generic email marketing role.
This is not a community moderation role.
This is not a “button-clicker” automation seat.
We are looking for someone who is both a poet and a quant; someone who can read member behavior, spot where people are activating or disengaging, and design communication systems that feel personal, timely, and human at scale.
You will own the lifecycle strategy, messaging, segmentation logic, behavioral triggers, campaign briefs, and performance analysis behind member communications. The HubSpot implementation team will support the technical buildout, but you will design the architecture.
This role sits at the intersection of community, retention, data, writing, and AI-powered personalization. Your work will directly shape onboarding, activation, engagement, re-engagement, win-back, member health scoring, and the next generation of personalized member communication.
The frontier of this role is AI-powered hyper-personalization: building toward a future where member communications feel individually crafted, not just segmented into a cohort. The infrastructure is being built (behavioral data, AI capabilities, segmentation systems) and you will help bring that vision to life through strategy, writing, and lifecycle design.
✅ What You'll Own
- Design lifecycle communication strategies across onboarding, activation, engagement, re-engagement, retention, win-back, and churn prevention
- Write member-facing emails that feel warm, specific, human, and aligned with the AI Advantage voice
- Use behavioral data to identify engagement patterns, member drop-off points, churn risk, and lifecycle opportunities
- Build and refine segmentation logic based on member tier, behavior, engagement level, progression stage, and retention risk
- Design behavioral-triggered communication flows that respond to what members do (or do not do) across their journey
- Create campaign briefs and workflow specifications for the HubSpot implementation team to execute clearly
- Review implemented campaigns for accuracy, alignment, and quality before deployment
- Partner with the Head of Community, marketing team, data team, and HubSpot implementation team to improve member communication systems
- Monitor campaign performance and translate insights into recommendations, tests, and lifecycle improvements
- Run or recommend A/B tests across subject lines, messaging, timing, segmentation, and calls to action
- Support the development of member health scoring systems and intervention campaigns for at-risk members
- Help pioneer AI-assisted personalization workflows that make large-scale member communication feel more individually relevant

We are looking for someone with 4+ years of direct lifecycle communication ownership; specifically experience designing communications that improve engagement, retention, re-engagement, or churn prevention.
You may come from lifecycle marketing, customer marketing, retention marketing, email marketing, customer success communications, membership, SaaS, EdTech, online learning, creator-led communities, coaching programs, or subscription-based businesses.
The right person has owned more than campaigns. They have owned the thinking behind the system.

- Have directly owned lifecycle communications designed to improve engagement, retention, re-engagement, or churn prevention
- Can design lifecycle email sequences across onboarding, activation, engagement, re-engagement, win-back, and behavioral-triggered journeys
- Know how to use data to identify retention risk, engagement patterns, member drop-off, and communication opportunities
- Can write emails that feel personal, specific, relational, and human; not generic, corporate, or templated
- Think in systems, segments, triggers, member journeys, and branching logic
- Can turn data insights into clear campaign briefs a HubSpot implementation team can execute
- Are comfortable working with analytics, dashboards, cohort behavior, campaign performance, and retention metrics
- Default to testing, learning, iteration, and measurable improvement
- Use AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms as a regular working collaborator
- Are genuinely excited by AI-powered personalization and the future of human-centered member communication
✅ Required Experience
- 4+ years directly owning lifecycle communications tied to engagement, retention, re-engagement, churn prevention, customer/member marketing, or lifecycle strategy
- Proven experience designing lifecycle, email, onboarding, activation, re-engagement, win-back, or behavioral-triggered communication sequences
- Strong writing ability, with the ability to create member-facing communications that feel warm, clear, specific, and human
- Experience using data to identify customer/member behavior patterns and translate those insights into communication strategy
- Experience defining segments, triggers, campaign logic, and lifecycle flows
- Ability to write clear campaign briefs and collaborate with implementation or email operations teams
- Comfort reviewing campaign performance and identifying opportunities for testing and improvement
- Daily or highly frequent use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms in your workflow
- Genuine interest in AI, personalization, member experience, and the future of work
✅ Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with HubSpot or similar email automation platforms such as Marketo, ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, Braze, Iterable, Customer.io, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Experience in membership businesses, online education, EdTech, SaaS, subscription businesses, coaching programs, or creator-led communities
- Experience with community platforms such as Circle, Skool, Mighty Networks, or similar tools
- Experience building or contributing to member/customer health scoring systems
- Experience designing churn prevention, save, or win-back campaigns
- Experience with trial conversion or activation campaigns
- Experience using AI to improve writing workflows, segmentation, personalization, analysis, or marketing operations
- Experience creating reusable AI workflows, prompt libraries, Custom GPTs, Claude Projects, automation workflows, or similar systems
- Portfolio examples of lifecycle emails, campaign briefs, re-engagement campaigns, or writing samples with performance context
❌ What This Role Is Not
- This is not a pure email operations role. You will not be expected to personally build every workflow inside HubSpot.
- This is not a content writer role focused on guides, hacks, curriculum, or course resources.
- This is not a community operations role focused on announcements, replay posts, event descriptions, or general community communications.
- This role owns the deeper lifecycle communication layer: email campaigns, lifecycle sequences, behavioral triggers, retention, re-engagement, win-back, and member communication strategy.
- You are the architect and writer. The HubSpot implementation team helps build from your briefs.
