Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days onsite/week)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable cloud-based data solutions within a banking environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS data services, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing concepts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, Redshift, EMR, and Athena
• Develop ETL/ELT workflows to support analytics and business reporting
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Optimize data processing workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability
• Ensure data quality, governance, and security compliance standards are met
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance existing data pipelines

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, preferably in cloud environments
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services: Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, EMR, and Athena
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Strong understanding of OLAP, OLTP, data modeling, data warehousing, and data lake concepts
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control tools like Git

Nice to Have

• Experience with real-time streaming technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis
• Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation
• Understanding of DevOps practices and automation tools

Domain Experience: Banking/Financial Services preferred.
