Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer, Data & Analytics to join our client’s engineering organization in Chicago, Illinois. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on builder with strong backend and cloud engineering experience who thrives in modern platform environments. This role will involve designing and scaling foundational data and machine learning platforms, modernizing internal tooling, and helping shape the company’s practical approach to Generative AI infrastructure and enablement.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and Modernize Data Platforms: Design and implement next-generation orchestration and platform capabilities that unify legacy and modern environments.
• Develop Internal Applications: Build full-stack internal tools using Python backends and React frontends that enable self-service ingestion, transformation, and delivery workflows.
• Enhance MLOps Capabilities: Expand internal tools that support the full machine learning lifecycle, model deployment, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
• Support Advanced Data Stack Initiatives: Work with technologies such as Databricks, Spark, Kafka, dbt, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure to scale analytics capabilities.
• Drive GenAI Enablement: Help define standards, sandboxes, observability, governance, and production-ready practices for Generative AI systems.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Equivalent practical experience considered.
• Experience: 5+ years of backend, platform, infrastructure, or software engineering experience.
• Skills: Strong Python development, cloud engineering experience in AWS, infrastructure design, platform architecture, and experience supporting modern data environments.
• Other: Must be comfortable operating across both strategic architecture and hands-on coding in a hybrid Chicago office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Databricks, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Temporal, dbt, or related modern data stack tools.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and AWS services such as S3, EKS, MSK, DMS, and Glue.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts and the machine learning lifecycle (MLOps).
• Experience evaluating or implementing Generative AI tools and emerging technologies.
• Prior experience in high-growth, fintech, or highly scaled technical environments.
