Senior Data Engineer

Metrics Recruitment is partnering with a B2B SaaS company building critical data infrastructure in the healthcare space. We are seeking a Lead/Senior Data Engineer to own the data platform from the ground up.

You'll work directly with the CTO to build and scale a modern data architecture that powers both internal operations and client-facing analytics. This role is for engineers who thrive on deep technical ownership and building in high-ambiguity environments.

Responsibilities

• Anchor and evolve a medallion architecture on AWS, including ingestion, transformation, and serving layers.
• Architect data pipelines across hundreds of multi-tenant client databases with complex schemas.
• Evaluate and implement tooling decisions (Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) based on problem-fit, not trend-chasing.
• Own projects end-to-end, from initial design through production deployment and monitoring.
• Lay the groundwork for client-facing analytics and reporting capabilities.

Requirements

• Built a data platform from scratch at a B2B SaaS company.
• Strong AWS fundamentals: S3, Redshift/Athena, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions.
• Python for pipeline development; experience with Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent orchestration.
• Comfortable operating as the sole senior data person with minimal direction.

Nice to Have

• Experience with sensitive/regulated data environments.
• Familiarity with medallion architecture.
• Active user of AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) as a force multiplier.

Compensation: $160,000–$180,000 Base + Variable

Location: Remote (US, CST/EST only)
