As part of continued growth, they are seeking a Senior GNC Software Engineer – Sensors to lead development of advanced sensing and perception systems for autonomous lunar rover operations.

The Role

You will lead the Sensor Team, driving the design, integration, and optimization of sensing architectures that enable autonomous navigation and control in complex lunar environments.

Working at the intersection of robotics, autonomy, and space exploration, you’ll collaborate closely with systems, software, mechanical, electrical, and GNC teams to develop mission-critical technologies for future lunar missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of sensing architectures for autonomous lunar mobility systems
  • Own sensor integration activities including data pipelines, drivers, calibration, and sensor fusion
  • Support integration with localization, mapping, navigation, and planning systems
  • Evaluate sensor performance through simulation, hardware integration, and field testing
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to optimize rover sensing capabilities
  • Support hardware bring-up, vendor coordination, and component selection
  • Mentor engineers and help drive technical excellence across the sensor and autonomy teams

Required Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience within autonomous systems, robotics, or sensor integration
  • Experience with sensing technologies such as LiDAR, radar, cameras, IMUs, or similar systems
  • Strong understanding of sensor fusion, calibration, timing synchronization, and coordinate transformations
  • Experience with embedded systems, ROS, cFS, or similar middleware environments
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills
  • US Person status required

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced degree related to robotics, sensing, autonomy, or perception systems
  • Experience with SLAM, real-time perception, or autonomous navigation algorithms
  • Familiarity with aerospace, spaceflight, or safety-critical systems
  • Experience with EKF, factor graphs, or advanced sensor fusion techniques

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to help develop the autonomous technologies that will power the future of lunar exploration and planetary mobility.

You’ll be working on real mission hardware in a fast-paced environment alongside teams solving some of the most challenging problems in robotics and space exploration.
