Senior .NET Software Developer / Technical Lead
Duration: 6 month contract to hire

About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior .NET Software Developer / Technical Lead to join an HR IT team supporting internal systems used by Human Resources, Benefits, and Corporate Communications. This role is ideal for a strong backend developer who enjoys technical leadership, modern engineering practices, and partnering closely with business stakeholders. You’ll step into a key leadership position, acting as the primary technical owner for critical HR applications while mentoring a small development team and driving modernization initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the technical lead for HR-related application systems, owning architecture and technical decision-making
- Lead and mentor a team of ~4 developers, providing hands-on guidance and technical direction
- Design, build, and support enterprise .NET backend systems (roughly 90% backend / 10% frontend)
- Modernize and migrate legacy .NET applications to modern architectures
- Build and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs and enterprise applications
- Partner with HR and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Define and uphold standards for CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, documentation, and code quality
- Lead development efforts across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Evaluate new tools, platforms, and architectural approaches to continuously improve systems
What We’re Looking For
Required Experience
- 7+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong backend expertise in .NET Core (v8 required; v10 preferred)
- Some frontend experience with React or Angular
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar tools)
- Cloud development and deployment experience (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable)
- Experience with AI/ML integrations or AI-enabled applications
- Proven experience as a senior engineer or technical lead on complex systems
- Strong experience building and supporting REST APIs and enterprise applications
- Ability to mentor developers and lead technical discussions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
Nice to Have
- Frontend experience with Blazor
- Experience with microservices or distributed systems
- Strong background in database design and data integrations
- Experience supporting HR, Benefits, or internal enterprise systems
- Leadership experience on large-scale modernization or migration initiatives
- Familiarity with security, compliance, and enterprise governance standards
