This role exists to tackle technically challenging problems, support less-experienced engineers, and contribute to sound technical decisions — all while remaining aligned with the agreed architecture and standards.
What You'll Bring To The Role
Key responsibilities
Technical delivery
- Design and implement complex features and improvements
- Take ownership of technically significant or high-risk work
- Ensure solutions are maintainable, testable, and well understood
- Help diagnose and resolve complex production issues
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers
- Contribute strongly to code reviews and design discussions
- Support the Engineering Tech Lead in maintaining technical quality
- Identify technical risks and raise them early
- Work closely with QA to ensure confidence in delivered changes
- Engage constructively with Product and other stakeholders as needed
- Balance pragmatism with long-term thinking
- This is not a formal people management role
- This is not ownership of cross-team architecture
- This is not a substitute for a Tech Lead or Principal Engineer
Experience And Capabilities
- Strong experience as a software engineer in a production SaaS environment
- Proven ability to deliver complex, high-quality solutions
- Strong understanding of testing, performance, and maintainability
- Ability to mentor others and influence through example
- Sound technical judgement under pressure
