Job Description

The Skunk Works (Lockheed Martin Advanced Development Program (ADP)) is looking for talented and energetic individuals to become a part of a dynamic high energy team carrying on the 70+ year tradition of developing and producing advanced aircraft and battlespace solutions.

This Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Software Engineer position is with the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works Mission Systems and Software Comms team supporting an ADP program that includes staff distributed between Fort Worth, Texas and Palmdale, California. The selected candidate will use cutting edge principles, theories, concepts, standards and techniques for developing the software and hardware solutions for complex modern aircraft and battlespaces. Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solutions, innovative technologies, new ideas, and out of the box thinking is standard within ADP.

The selected candidate will be a member within our GNC team, with focus on Navigation and Timing. The job requires use a wide range of Aeronautical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering principles from aerodynamics, stability/control, guidance, multi-sensor navigation, sensor fusion, estimation, system-identification, optimal filtering using EKF/UKFs, etc. to develop algorithms from the fundamentals, generate software from models, integrate, and test hardware/software solutions. Expertise with Matlab/Simulink is required, and embedded software development skills are desired. Ability to understand impacts of design-choices on airworthiness, and mission/platform performance is essential. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, and a Master’s degree (or be working on one) in a relevant engineering discipline.

The successful candidate will be a member of a high-performing multi-site team and must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must have demonstrated effective pro-active communication skills as the position will require inter-organizational and outside customer interactions. The ability to travel on occasion for team interaction, and integration & test activities is required.
