Reference Data Software Engineer

New York, NY | Full-Time | On-Site

About the Role:

We're a leading global proprietary trading firm powered by cutting-edge technology. At the core of everything we do is data - and we're looking for a experienced Software Engineer to join the team that owns it.

This is a high-impact, central role: the reference data systems you build and maintain will be used by trading systems, quantitative research platforms, and back-office operations alike. If you want to work on infrastructure that the entire firm depends on, this is it.

What You'll Do:

  • Aggregate, validate, enrich, and distribute large datasets sourced from major financial data vendors (Bloomberg, LSEG, and others)
  • Design, build, test, and maintain the databases and APIs that power firm-wide reference data
  • Architect custom software solutions that help business stakeholders manage and evaluate data at scale
  • Lead and support large-scale migrations across global, multi-asset datasets
  • Monitor and maintain production systems - both proactively and reactively

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of enterprise-level Java development in distributed systems environments
  • Reference data expertise
  • Strong command of relational databases - SQL and Oracle RDBMS in particular
  • Genuine interest in financial markets and trading

Bonus Points For:

  • Prior experience in financial services, especially with exposure to trading systems
  • Python experience with large-scale data workloads
  • Familiarity with HBase, Hadoop, or cloud storage technologies
  • Comfort in a Linux environment
  • Experience with version control systems (Git or SVN)

Why Join Us:

We offer a flat, meritocratic, fast-paced culture where engineers are trusted to own consequential systems. Learning and teaching are core to how we operate - you'll be surrounded by people who take the craft seriously and push each other to raise the bar.

Interested? Apply directly or reach out - we'd love to hear from you.
