1. Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced IT Platform Architect / Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise platforms within a digital banking environment. This role focuses on enterprise case management, workflows and AI platforms, driving innovation and operational excellence.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Enterprise Case Management & Workflow Engineering
- Architectural Leadership: Lead the end-to-end design and implementation of modular Enterprise Case Management and Workflow systems.
- Strategic Automation: Design complex, cross-functional workflow logic that automates high-volume banking processes while maintaining auditability. Develop "Self-Service" platforms that reduce UX friction and improve customer deflection through automated and AI-driven resolution paths.
- Platform POC, Maintenance, Optimization: Conduct hands-on platform poc and maintenance of on-premise platform - the installation, troubleshooting, tuning, and scaling of workflow, case management and Agentic AI engines (e.g, N8N opensource, Claude Code) to handle banking transactions in an auditable yet flexible way.
- Resilience & Security: Engineer high-availability (HA) architectures and disaster recovery (DR) strategies that meet strict financial regulatory standard.
B. Adaptive AI & Innovation Platform
- AI Infrastructure: Architect and manage the underlying infrastructure required for LLM and Agentic AI use cases, ensuring low-latency inference and secure data pipelines, especially while accessing externally hosted LLM models.
- Model Integration: Architect and lead the bank to operationalize AI workflows within standard business processes (AIOps).
- Continuous Learning Loops: Continuously learn the latest in AI space, take what adds value into the bank, design systems that allow for real-time model feedback and optimize case management/BPMN workflow/Agentic AI accordingly.
- Automation and AI Champion: Continuously promote “automation and AI” culture and best practices within the bank; provision and demonstrate to stakeholders - citizen development using low code and AI; build and deepen automation and AI collaboration and knowledge sharing relationships with other banks and tech industry; participate in industrial consortium and contribute to/lead bank/payment related AI protocol/industrial initiative.
C. Platform Strategy & Vendor Ecosystem
- Strategic Evaluation: Conduct deep-dive technical assessments of vendors On Prem/SaaS/PaaS offerings vs. open-source solutions, ensuring alignment with the bank’s long-term "Buy vs. Build" strategy, and tech principles for efficiency, scalability, resilience, observability and security.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all platform selections adhere to regional data residency, cybersecurity frameworks, and banking secrecy laws.
- Technical Roadmap: Maintain a multi-year technology roadmap for the case management/workflow/AI platforms, anticipating shifts in cloud-native technologies and AI trends.
D. Stakeholder Synergy & Enablement
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the technical translator between Business Units (Ops, Risk, Compliance, Sales, etc), Engineering and TechOps to define, prioritize and implement high-impact use cases.
- Developer Experience (DevEx): Create documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training modules to enable internal teams to use the platform independently.
- Mentorship: Lead a culture of engineering excellence by providing technical guidance and code reviews for junior platform and DevOps engineers.ß
3. Requirements
- Cloud Native: Deep experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, and microservices architecture.
- Stateful Workflow Design: Deep experience with State Machines or Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs). If you have built complex systems using BPMN compliant workflow system such as Camunda/Activiti/Flowable, etc, AWS Step Functions, Temporal, or Airflow, you already have the mindset.
- Advanced Python & Async Architecture: Proficiency in Python, specifically with Asynchronous programming (Asyncio). You should be comfortable handling concurrent API calls and long-running processes. Familiarity with Java tech stack is also a strong plus.
- Data Modeling & API: experience with Structured Data and Restful API (JSON Schema/Pydantic).
- Systems Observability: Experience with distributed tracing and logging (OpenTelemetry, ELK). Understand how to debug complex system and find root cause of production incident.
- Banking Domain: Knowledge of AML/KYC workflows or payment processing systems is highly preferred.
- Bilingual Proficiency: spoken English and Chinese are highly preferred.
