Description

Build the interface to the planet

At osapiens Terra, we build technology that helps companies understand the environmental impact of their global supply chains. Our platform combines satellite imagery, geospatial data, and machine learning to detect deforestation risks, analyze land use, and support compliance with regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Every day, our systems process millions of satellite images and analyze them with advanced machine learning models. The results power tools used by over 800 companies and thousands of users worldwide, from global importers to sustainability teams.

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer - Remote Sensing Platform (React) (m/f/x) to help build the user interface for this platform — turning complex geospatial and machine learning outputs into powerful, intuitive tools for decision-making.

You will join osapiens Terra, our Munich-based team focused on geospatial intelligence and remote sensing. Our office near Sendlinger Tor brings together engineers, ML specialists, and geospatial analysts working at the intersection of enterprise software, climate data, and AI.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Frontend Engineer - Remote Sensing Platform (React) (m/f/x), you will design and build interfaces that allow users to explore and understand massive geospatial datasets.

You Will

  • Own features end-to-end, from architecture to implementation and deployment
  • Build scalable frontend architecture using React, TypeScript, MUI, and MobX
  • Develop interactive map-based interfaces using libraries such as Mapbox
  • Visualize machine learning outputs, including deforestation detection results
  • Render and interact with large geospatial datasets and time-series satellite data
  • Design multi-layer map visualizations and complex geospatial user interactions
  • Optimize performance for large datasets and real-time data exploration
  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers, ML researchers, and geospatial experts
  • Translate product ideas and UX concepts into intuitive, responsive interfaces

Technical Challenges

The frontend of our platform is not a traditional dashboard. You will be working with:

  • Petabyte-scale satellite datasets
  • Time-series Earth observation imagery
  • Interactive geospatial maps with multiple dynamic layers
  • Machine learning predictions visualized in real time
  • Performance challenges when rendering large spatial datasets
  • Complex user workflows for environmental risk analysis

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving hard visualization problems and building products that turn complex data into clear insights.

Your Experience

We are looking for a strong frontend engineers who enjoy ownership and complex products.

You Should Have

  • Strong experience with React and TypeScript
  • Experience building complex, data-heavy user interfaces
  • Experience with REST APIs and system integration
  • A strong product mindset and focus on user experience
  • Experience working in agile teams
  • Excellent English skills (C1) and solid German (B1+)

Nice To Have

  • Experience with geospatial technologies or map visualizations
  • Experience with Mapbox, WebGL, or large-scale data visualization

Geospatial or remote sensing experience is not required — you will learn this on the job while collaborating closely with our ML and geospatial teams.

Join us for this and more...

  • Work on technology that helps protect global forests and ecosystems
  • Build products combining AI, satellite data, and geospatial intelligence
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, ML specialists, and geospatial analysts
  • Join a fast-moving team with strong ownership and short decision paths
  • Work from our Munich office near Sendlinger Tor with around 40 colleagues
  • Regular demo lunches and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Hybrid work setup with strong in-person collaboration
