Senior Software Engineer

Location: Uppsala, Sweden

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take a key role in the continued development of software platforms for laboratory instrumentation and manufacturing systems.

This is a hands-on software engineering role with broad responsibility across the full development lifecycle, from concept and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

The main goal will be to build robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that support the next generation of peptide and oligonucleotide synthesizers. This will also involve some maintenance and updates on legacy code as some of these products are now a few years old.

Due to their somewhat smaller size you will have the leading hands-on position within the company and really get to see everything that happens internally, not just on the software side, but in terms of the overall development of these instruments.

Key Responsibilities

◦ Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software for laboratory instrumentation and manufacturing systems.

◦ Build Windows-based applications using C#, WPF, and .NET.

◦ Work with hardware interfacing, communication protocols, and PLC integration.

◦ Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from early concepts to deployed production systems.

◦ Develop efficient, scalable, and maintainable software that directly supports product and business objectives.

◦ Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, domain experts, customer support, service teams, and fellow engineers.

◦ Mentor and support other engineers, helping to build a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ideally master’s degree in a software-related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 5-7 years of hands-on software development experience.

• Strong experience developing Windows applications.

• Excellent knowledge of C#, WPF, and .NET.

• Experience using common development tools such as Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and Git.

• Good understanding of database management.

• Experience with communication protocols such as COM and TCP/IP.

Additional Merits

Experience with PostgreSQL.

• Experience with PLC programming.

• Previous experience from life sciences, particularly software for laboratory equipment.

• Understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to laboratory and manufacturing software, including 21 CFR Part 11.

• Good written and spoken English
