Fullstack Developer - Barcelona (Work & Study Programme)

WORK & STUDY OPPORTUNITY IN BARCELONA – MEDIQUO x HARBOUR.SPACE INSTITUTE

Mediquo has partnered with Harbour.Space Institute of Technology to offer a fully-funded Master's degree scholarship in Computer Science, along with hands-on work experience as a Fullstack Developer at Mediquo, Spain and Latin America's first 100% digital hospital, serving over 1 million medical consultations a year across insurance companies, health benefits providers, and pharmaceutical clients.

We're looking for a mid-level Fullstack Developer to join Mediquo in Barcelona through Harbour.Space's Work & Study Programme, a structured track for engineers who want to gain experience in Spain while completing a fully-funded Master's in Computer Science.

What you'll be doing:

You'll build and maintain features across the full stack, Node.js backend, modern JavaScript frontend, REST API design and integration, database management, and cloud deployment. You own features from database schema to UI without needing to hand off between teams. You'll work closely with designers, product owners, and engineers, participate in code reviews, and ensure reliability and security standards across a healthcare platform where both actually matter.

Who this is for:

You have 3+ years of professional fullstack experience, you're genuinely comfortable on both sides of the stack, and you can ship end-to-end without being blocked. You want to relocate to Barcelona, work on a product with real social impact at scale, and finish a Master's degree without stepping away from your career.

Who we're looking for:

• 3+ years of professional fullstack development experience
• Strong Node.js backend experience: APIs, server-side logic, cloud deployment
• Solid frontend skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and at least one modern framework
• Database experience with MySQL or MongoDB in production
• Understanding of REST API design, microservices, and basic DevOps principles
• Fluent English as studying language is English
• Open to relocating to Barcelona

Your responsibilities may include:

• Build and maintain features across the full stack, from database to interface
• Own features end-to-end without handoff between teams
• Design and integrate REST APIs with frontend and third-party services
• Collaborate with designers, product owners, and engineers to ship new features
• Participate in code reviews and performance optimisation
• Ensure reliability and security standards across the stack

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• React Native or mobile development experience
• Familiarity with agile and cross-functional product teams
• Exposure to healthcare tech or regulated environments
