Role Summary:
The Senior CMDB Consultant is responsible for designing, governing, and operating an enterprise‑grade Configuration Management Database (CMDB) in ServiceNow. The role ensures CMDB data accuracy, integrity, and usability, enabling reliable ITSM processes, impact analysis, and change risk management.
This role requires a deeply skilled and certified ServiceNow CMDB professional who is accountable for CMDB configuration, governance, data quality, and integration outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish ServiceNow CMDB as the single source of truth for all configuration items (CIs)
- Design and govern:
- CI class structures, attributes, and inheritance models
- CI lifecycle states, ownership, and mandatory registration requirements
- Relationship models and dependency standards
- Configure and manage ServiceNow CMDB components, including:
- Discovery patterns and schedules
- Normalization and reconciliation rules
- Identification and reconciliation engines (IRE)
- Ensure accurate CI population across infrastructure, application, and platform domains
- Implement and maintain CMDB Health Index (CHI) dashboards and reporting
- Perform regular CMDB audits, data health reviews, and remediation actions
- Enable accurate impact analysis and change risk assessments through reliable CI relationships
- Drive automation and continuous improvement for CMDB maintenance
- Produce CMDB standards, operating procedures, and technical documentation
- Support knowledge transfer and operational handover to client teams
Mandatory ServiceNow Skills & Certifications:
The candidate must possess the following certifications and experience:
Certifications (Mandatory):
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – Discovery or Service Mapping
Hands-on Experience (Mandatory):
- Configuration and maintenance of CMDB data models
- Implementation and management of Discovery, including normalization and reconciliation
- Definition and management of CI relationships and lifecycle rules
