Job Title: Appian Technical Lead
Location: Jersey City, NJ or Coppell, TX (Hybrid Preferred)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (CTH)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced BPM / Appian Technical Lead to design, build, and lead the development of enterprise workflow and process automation solutions.
This role is responsible for owning end-to-end delivery of Appian-based applications, driving business process improvements, and leading technical teams to implement scalable, high-performing solutions in a cloud-based environment.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Appian BPM, workflow automation, and system integrations, combined with strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of BPM solutions using the Appian platform
- Translate business requirements into efficient workflow designs and process automation solutions
- Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to define and optimize business processes
- Build and manage case management systems, workflows, and business rules
- Integrate Appian applications with enterprise systems, APIs, and microservices
- Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams to deploy scalable applications on AWS
- Optimize application performance, reducing latency and improving system efficiency
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
- Oversee development lifecycle activities including design, testing, deployment, and production support
- Ensure adherence to governance, risk, security, and compliance standards
- Design intuitive and user-friendly UI/UX workflows and interfaces
- Implement best practices for CI/CD, DevOps, and application delivery
- Leverage modern tools, including AI-assisted development technologies, to improve productivity and automation
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software development and BPM platforms
- Strong hands-on experience with Appian BPM, including:
- Process modeling
- SAIL (UI development)
- Integrations and workflows
- Experience building enterprise workflow automation and case management solutions
- Strong understanding of Java/J2EE and backend development concepts
- Experience with REST APIs and system integrations
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Experience working with databases and enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven)
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
