Senior Go Backend Engineer

We're building a mobile trading tournament platform where users compete in real-time financial trading competitions. Think high-frequency gaming mechanics combined with real market data. We process thousands of concurrent transactions, manage complex tournament logic, and serve real-time leaderboards across iOS, Android, and web.

You'll be hands-on, building and maintaining our core Go microservices. This is a 100% coding role focused on tournament logic, financial ledger management, user identity, and market data systems. You'll own production systems, keep them fast and reliable, and help shape how we build at scale.

• Write and maintain Go microservices handling tournament engine, ledger, and identity systems
• Optimize PostgreSQL queries and implement smart caching with Redis
• Build event-driven systems with Kafka for real-time updates
• Debug production issues and improve system reliability
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production
• Review code and help teammates improve their craft
• Contribute to architectural decisions for new features
• Use AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development and code generation
• Validate and improve AI-generated code, using AI tools for debugging and optimization
• Leverage AI-powered analysis for security, performance, and code quality improvements

Required:

• 4-6 years building production Go systems
• Strong PostgreSQL skills (query optimization, schema design)
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, or similar systems
• REST API design and comprehensive testing
• Linux command line, Docker basics
• Ownership mentality—you care about reliability and code quality
• Comfort using AI coding tools and ability to critically evaluate AI suggestions
• Willingness to integrate AI into development workflow responsibly

Nice to have:

• AWS experience (Cognito, S3, SNS)
• Financial or trading system background
• High-scale systems (thousands of requests/second)
• CI/CD, observability tools
• Open source contributions
• Technical leadership experience
• Prior experience with AI-assisted development tools
