Software Developer (C/C++) – Stuttgart | Hybrid

We are working with a globally recognised, high-tech engineering organisation based in Stuttgart, delivering sophisticated software systems in a security-related environment. The company operates at the intersection of precision engineering and advanced software development, with a strong culture of quality, structured delivery, and long-term project investment.

Location: Stuttgart, Germany

Home Office: Up to 60%

Contract: ANÜ | 24 months

Hours: 35–40 hours per week

Start: ASAP

Salary: up to €85,000pa (Negotiable)

Security: No Sicherheitsüberprüfung required — NfD briefing will be completed on commencement

Languages: German (fluent / business level) and English (working knowledge)

The Role

You will join a cross-location agile development team building and maintaining software for complex technical devices in a security-related environment. The focus is application-level software running on Embedded Linux platforms — this is not a microcontroller or firmware role. The work involves implementing new functionality in C++, analysing and resolving defects, integrating and testing code, and supporting approval and certification processes.

This is a stable, long-term engagement with a well-resourced team and a clear technical focus. If you are a software developer with a strong Linux background who has worked on device-level software rather than bare-metal firmware, this role is worth a look.

Responsibilities

Working within a cross-location agile team to implement new features in C++ in a security-related codebase; analysing and fixing software defects; testing and integrating code into the product; and supporting the approval and certification process.

Your Background

You bring advanced knowledge of C/C++ and object-oriented software development, solid Python skills, and extended hands-on experience with Embedded Linux. You are comfortable working at the application and system software level on Linux-based devices — think software that runs on hardware, not software that runs instead of an OS. Experience in a safety or security environment is important, as is an understanding of the quality disciplines that come with it.

You communicate confidently in German at a business level and have a working knowledge of English.

Nice to have: Experience with systemd/dbus and CMake.
